Living Conditions in the Cities

Changes in the cities

Over two hundred years ago, a lot of people went to live from the countryside to the cities. The factories were being built there and needed labourers, as opposed to the countryside where increased farm production lessened the need for agricultural workers.

As every industrialized country grew in a gigantic form, society changed terribly. A society coming to be governed by thickly settled cities was very different  from one that had been dominated by people living in the farms.

Changes in transportation

The transportation started to change during the 2nd industrial revolution. The transportation improved and there were cars, planes, ocean liners (ships) and trains. All these changes happened very quickly.

The transportation was and still is really important. Trains at that time were so important that people travelled by train at least once. The only car that was in circulation at that time was the Ford model T4. The plane was invented by the brothers Plane; the oceanliners were very small but useful.
